The Metroidvania style exploration was another surprising element that Monster Sanctuary expertly weaved into its gameplay. Notably, the ability to tailor each creature's skill set to my specific strategies added another layer of depth, granting me a personal connection with my squad that few games offer. It allowed for so much customization and gave a real sense of progression and development for my monsters. The Skill Trees for each monster were one of my favorite aspects. Every victory felt earned, and each defeat was a lesson pushing me to tweak my strategy or grind to boost my team's level. Each battle was a delightful blend of strategy and power management, and I found myself thoroughly engaged mastering the various mechanics. The combat mechanics were engaging and satisfyingly tactical. The synergy between different creatures and the variety of team combinations provided me with many different experimentations. There was an astonishing level of depth in the strategic possibilities for your team, allowing for a real sense of personal attachment to your monsters. The variety of creatures available to collect and evolve was astounding and sparked the same joy I experienced in my early days of gaming with titles such as Pokémon. ![]() One of the strengths of Monster Sanctuary lies in its monster-taming aspect. I'll start this review by saying, not very often I find myself so completely engrossed by a game that I feel that sense of "I really wanna explore everything", but Monster Sanctuary was that and so much more.Īs soon as the pixel art style welcomed me into its world, I was captivated.
